Latvian women's top-flight side FS Metta claimed a 5-3 home victory over the combined Iecava/Olaine team in their latest league meeting. The result continued a run of particularly high-scoring games between these two clubs. On 13 June, Metta had won 5-4 at home despite trailing 1-4 as late as the 58th minute. Last year, one of their encounters stood at 5-3 by half-time and finished 8-4 in Metta's favour.

This time, the Riga side settled the match in the closing stages of the first half. Between the 34th and 42nd minutes they scored three unanswered goals past 14-year-old goalkeeper Estere Lazda-Lazdiņa. The scorers were Keita Zviedre, Amēlija Lipšāne and Anastasija Vainere. Early in the second half, Emīlija Sofija Druviņa made it 4-0. In the 56th minute, 18-year-old Milāna Blate pulled one back for the visitors. Lote Aleksandrova then reduced the deficit to 2-4 in the 65th minute, and in the penultimate minute of normal time she made it 3-4. However, Amēlija Lipšāne scored her second goal of the game in stoppage time to seal the win.

Both teams now turn to their next assignments. On Saturday, Iecava/Olaine face Riga, while Metta host Ķekava's Auda on Sunday.

In the standings, Metta occupy third place with 27 points from 14 games. Iecava/Olaine are fourth on 18 points from 15 matches. RFS Women lead the table with 36 points, followed by Riga FC Women on 33. Rezekne remain bottom without a point.
