The author admires two acquaintances who, despite age and health issues, cycle to the forest every morning at 5 a.m., saving enough during the season to cover winter expenses when only state benefits are available.
It is especially heartening to see children and young people in the forest. A neighbor girl proudly shared that picking bilberries earned her enough to buy desired items without asking her parents. Such experiences teach that money must be earned through patience and persistence, changing one's attitude toward spending.
