Eight family members killed in Michigan fire, some with gunshot wounds
Eight members of the same family, including six children, died in a house fire in Michigan, with some victims suffering gunshot wounds.
A tragic incident in Grand Haven Township, Michigan, has left eight members of a single family dead. Emergency crews responded to a fire at a residence on Riverside Trail at approximately 11:40 a.m. local time on Friday.
Deputies from the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office and firefighters from the Grand Haven Fire Department entered the smoke-filled home to extinguish the blaze and discovered multiple fatalities. Captain Jacob Sparks stated at a press conference that upon entry, responders observed several deceased individuals, some of whom had gunshot wounds.
The victims include two adults and six children aged between 5 and 15. Their identities have not been released. Autopsies are scheduled for the weekend.
Authorities say they are not currently seeking any suspects outside the home, but the investigation remains active. The Michigan State Police arson team is assisting. Investigators believe the fire originated inside the residence, though the exact cause and point of origin have yet to be determined.
