Microsoft to hold Windows and Surface event in San Francisco on October 7th
Microsoft will host an event in San Francisco next month focused on the future of Windows and Surface, centered on how local AI will shape PCs. It will be the company's first major Windows event in more than two years.
Microsoft has announced it will hold an event on October 7th in San Francisco dedicated to the future of Windows and Surface devices. The company says the gathering will center on a conversation about how local artificial intelligence will shape the next generation of personal computers.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is expected to attend, along with Windows and Surface chief Pavan Davuluri. Notably, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang will also appear at the event, suggesting that RTX Spark PCs could be a central topic. If so, additional details about pricing and availability of the Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra may also be shared.
Quality focus and future plans
The event is also expected to address Microsoft's ongoing quality improvements to Windows and what comes next for the operating system. However, a surprise announcement of Windows 12 is not anticipated.
Microsoft last held a major Windows event in May 2024, when it unveiled new Arm-based Copilot Plus PCs and a renewed partnership with Qualcomm. Before that, the previous major Windows event took place in June 2021, when the company announced Windows 11 during a livestream.
The event is scheduled to begin on October 7th at 10AM PT / 1PM ET.
