Midjourney, best known for its AI image and video generation tools, has announced the acquisition of Co-Star, a popular astrology app. As part of the deal, Co-Star CEO Banu Guler will join Midjourney as Chief Design Officer. The company stated that Co-Star will remain under Guler's complete control, but will now benefit from Midjourney's resources.

In a post on X, Guler described the acquisition as a natural extension of her friendship with Midjourney founder David Holz and their shared belief that computers can be tools that reveal our humanity. She also shared a personal story about moving to New York at 17 and working various jobs.

Midjourney has been expanding beyond AI tools. In June, the company announced it was developing a full-body ultrasonic scanner and launching a new division called Midjourney Health.

Co-Star has reached 35 percent of young people in the US with tens of millions of app downloads. According to a Gallup survey from April 2026, Generation Z (ages 14-29) has grown increasingly negative towards AI. Excitement about AI dropped 14 percentage points to 22 percent, hopefulness fell nine points to 18 percent, and anger increased nine points to 31 percent.
