A traditional topping-out ceremony has been held in Riga, at the intersection of Miera, Brīvības and Šarlotes streets, for the future 'Miera 1' office building — an event marking the moment a building's structure reaches its highest point. The gathering brought together the project's developers, construction representatives and partners to reflect on progress made so far and thank the construction team.
Arnis Gromovs, board member of SIA 'Vaļņu 1', expressed satisfaction with the project's progress, emphasizing the goal of creating a modern, sustainable office building that fits naturally into this significant part of central Riga.
Building details
The new building will have eight floors plus one underground level, reaching a height of 27.7 meters with a total area of 5,000 square meters. The ground floor will house commercial premises, while the upper floors will offer flexible, adaptable office space. The project also includes an underground parking area, storage and utility rooms. Special attention has been given to energy efficiency and sustainability, with the project aiming to achieve international BREEAM 'Very Good' certification.
Financing and history
Total investment in the project is planned at up to €11.5 million, of which €7.5 million was allocated by Luminor Bank this past May. The developer is SIA 'Vaļņu 1', the architectural design comes from Lauder Architects, and construction is being carried out by SIA '3A'.
The address Miera iela 1 has been familiar to Riga residents for decades — the site previously held a three-story functionalist building that housed the popular bakery 'Karstā maize'. The concept for the new building dates back to 2016, when an architecture competition was held for the site, won by Lauder Architects' proposal. Construction began in the third quarter of 2025, with completion planned for mid-2027.
