Mieriņa: ZZS's possible failure to enter parliament partly linked to inconsistency on values
14th Saeima Speaker Daiga Mieriņa says that for the first time in over 20 years, polls suggest the Greens and Farmers Union (ZZS) may not enter the next Saeima, partly attributing this to the party's inconsistent stance on values issues.

The Greens and Farmers Union (ZZS), represented in the Latvian parliament for more than two decades, is now facing an unprecedented situation: current voter polls do not show enough support for the party to enter the 15th Saeima.
Daiga Mieriņa, one of the party's leaders and the current Speaker of the 14th Saeima, has commented on this trend. In her assessment, one reason behind the party's declining support among voters is its inconsistency on values-related issues.
A historically stable force
Throughout its history, ZZS has been one of the more stable parties within Latvia's parliamentary system, retaining its seat in the Saeima regardless of shifting coalitions and political circumstances. However, the current polling data suggests this stability could come to an end with the next parliamentary term.
Mieriņa's remarks indicate that within the party, possible explanations for the poll results are being considered, with inconsistency on values cited as one factor that may have affected voter trust in the party.
