Miezis' "Ulaanbaatar" reaches semifinals of 3x3 basketball Challenger

Kārlis Miezis' team "Ulaanbaatar" advanced to the semifinals of the Cáceres Challenger 3x3 basketball tournament on Saturday by defeating Spain's "Fuengirola".

The Mongolian club "Ulaanbaatar", represented by Latvian player Kārlis Miezis, secured a victory in the quarterfinals of the 3x3 basketball Challenger tournament in Cáceres, Spain. The sixth-seeded team beat eighth-seeded Spanish side "Fuengirola" 17-14.

Miezis contributed five points, three assists, two rebounds, and two turnovers in the quarterfinal. In the semifinals, "Ulaanbaatar" will face Croatian club "Cibona", which defeated Canada's "Toronto" 21-15 in the quarterfinals.

In Group D, "Ulaanbaatar" lost 8-21 to Germany's "Bonn" before defeating Poland's "Warsaw" 21-19. With one win in two games, they finished second in the group and advanced to the knockout stage.

Meanwhile, another Latvian player, Nauris Lācis, representing Chinese club "DeQing" (seventh seed), lost 17-19 to tournament favorites "Ub" from Serbia in the quarterfinals. Lācis recorded three points, four rebounds, one assist, and two turnovers. "DeQing" finished second in Group C after beating Austria's "Vienna" 21-14 and losing to Canada's "Toronto" 15-21.

The Cáceres Challenger offers three spots to the Debrecen Masters tournament, which will take place in late August.
