At a 3x3 basketball tournament taking place in Madrid, the team ''Ulaanbaatar'', seeded fifth in the competition, was eliminated in the quarterfinals, falling short of a semifinal berth. In the decisive match for a spot among the final four, the Mongolian squad lost 16:21 to tournament favorite ''Ub''.

Miezis was the top scorer for ''Ulaanbaatar'', netting eight points, but it wasn't enough to secure victory. On the opposing side, Dejan Majstrović matched that output with eight points of his own, helping drive ''Ub'' to the win.

Path to the quarterfinals

''Ulaanbaatar'' had to fight its way into the tournament, starting from the qualification round, where the team won both of its matches to advance to the main draw. In the main tournament's Group C, the Mongolian team posted a mixed record: it lost 17:21 to third-seeded ''Bonn'', then bounced back with a 21:19 win over seventh-seeded ''Fuengirola''.

In contrast to ''Ulaanbaatar's'' run, another Mongolian representative at the event — Francis Lācis playing for sixth-seeded ''DeQing'' — suffered two defeats in Group D and failed to reach the knockout stage.

The tournament carries added significance, as the top three finishing teams will earn qualification spots for the upcoming Zaisan ''Masters'' tournament, scheduled for mid-November, an important stop on the 3x3 basketball season calendar.
