Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal (Reform Party) has welcomed the European Union's decision to start accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova. In a social media post, he described it as a long-awaited step forward, bringing good news for Ukraine, Moldova, and the European Union itself.

As previously reported, EU member states have agreed to open the first thematic negotiation chapter, known as "Fundamentals." The official launch of negotiations is scheduled for June 15, with intergovernmental conferences to be held in Luxembourg. The chapter covers fundamental issues such as the rule of law, human rights, and other key criteria that candidate countries must meet.
