The international music festival Laima Rendezvous Jūrmala has added another prominent name to its lineup: Polish vocalist Michał Szpak. He will take the stage on July 26, the traditional final evening, at the Dzintari Concert Hall. Last year, his performance in Jūrmala was hailed as one of the festival's most emotionally impressive moments, and his return is eagerly anticipated by the audience.

Szpak is a finalist of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, where he placed eighth in Stockholm with the song 'Color of Your Life'. Earlier, he finished second in the first season of the Polish 'X Factor' in 2011. His debut album 'Byle być sobą' (2015), dedicated to his mother, achieved double platinum status and became one of the most significant Polish pop records of the decade. His second album 'Dreamer' (2018) debuted at number one on the Polish sales chart, while the 2023 release 'Nadwiślański mrok' marked a bold artistic shift, blending rock, industrial sounds, and electronics.

In recent years, Szpak has also established himself as a coach on the TV show 'The Voice of Poland', having completed his sixth season. Several leading Polish performers have emerged from his team, including Krystian Ochman, who represented Poland at Eurovision 2022. The artist is also known for his civic stance: during concert tours, he highlights ecological issues and calls for the protection of endangered species. In 2022, in response to Russia's war in Ukraine, he released the single 'Halo wodospad' as a gesture of solace. Currently, he is touring with the 'Live Session' program, where his voice is accompanied by a stellar lineup of musicians.

'His voice can convey exactly what he feels at that moment, and the hall feels it instantly. We are very happy to welcome him back to Dzintari,' said Laima Vaikule.

The Laima Rendezvous Jūrmala festival will take place from July 24 to 26. Tickets are available at www.laimafestival.lv.
