The best-selling video game of all time is expanding to another platform. Developer Mojang has announced that Minecraft will land on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27. Those who already own the Switch version will have an upgrade option, with further details to be shared at a later date.

The Switch 2 edition promises stronger visuals compared to the previous-generation version. By default, it will enable Vibrant Visuals, an enhanced graphics mode introduced last year, which includes directional lighting, volumetric fog, enhanced shadows, and more. The Super Mario Mash-Up pack, exclusive to Nintendo versions of Minecraft, will also receive a Vibrant Visuals boost.

However, Vibrant Visuals will not be available in split-screen play, some other game modes, and certain Marketplace Worlds and other content. Mojang has yet to confirm whether the Switch 2 version will support Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, which could help players create more precise builds faster. More details about the port are expected in the coming weeks.

The Switch 2 version arrives shortly after the latest spin-off in the series. Minecraft Dungeons II will hit PC and consoles, including Switch and Switch 2, on September 29.
