Minnesota United and Orlando City played to a 3-3 draw on Saturday, August 29, at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minnesota. Orlando salvaged the result through Tyrese Spicer, who scored in second-half stoppage time — the Pioneer Press puts it at the 93rd minute, while FOX Sports specifies it came three minutes into stoppage time.
How the match unfolded
Orlando led 1-0 at halftime thanks to a 28th-minute goal from Daryl Dike, his first of the season, scored from a tight angle after colliding with Minnesota goalkeeper Drake Callender. Callender was injured on the play and was replaced at halftime by backup Alec Smir as a concussion substitute.
In the 64th minute, Orlando newcomer Antoine Griezmann broke away to make it 2-0. But the game turned dramatically between the 71st and 76th minutes, when three goals were scored in quick succession. Marcus Caldeira pulled one back for Minnesota in the 71st minute, Anthony Markanich leveled it at 2-2 three minutes later, and Kelvin Yeboah then scored with a scissor kick to put Minnesota ahead 3-2. The lead didn't last, however, as Spicer — assisted by Griezmann and Ivan Angulo — equalized for Orlando in stoppage time to make it 3-3.

Sources give slightly different season records for the two clubs. The Pioneer Press lists Minnesota at 7-8-7 (29 points) and Orlando at 7-12-3 (25 points), while FOX Sports reports Minnesota at 7-7-8 and Orlando at 7-11-4. Both sources agree that each side earned a single point in tight races for MLS Cup Playoff spots.
The draw followed Minnesota's 5-1 road win over the San Jose Earthquakes, and the club still hasn't won at home since April. According to the Pioneer Press, the result denied Minnesota its first back-to-back wins since April. Callender made two saves before leaving the match, while Orlando goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau made five saves. It was Orlando's first trip to St. Paul since 2023.
Orlando next hosts San Diego FC, while Minnesota travels to face the Portland Timbers, both on Saturday.
