As Latvian universities begin their admissions process, Education and Science Minister Ilze Indriksone (National Alliance) is proposing stricter evaluation of potential foreign students. She calls on universities to focus more on applicants from European Union, OECD, and NATO member states. To ensure students are prepared for studies in Latvia, the minister suggests introducing international entrance exams that would also test English proficiency. It remains unclear how higher education institutions view this proposal.
