Former West Ham goalkeeper Ludek Miklosko dies at 64
Former West Ham United and Czech Republic goalkeeper Ludek Miklosko has died at age 64, following a battle with cancer.
West Ham United has announced the death of legendary former goalkeeper and coach Ludek Miklosko at the age of 64.
The Czech goalkeeper played for the Hammers from 1990 to 1998, making close to 400 appearances and becoming a firm favourite among supporters, who continued chanting his name for years after he left the club. Following his playing career, Miklosko returned to West Ham in a coaching role, working with the club's goalkeepers.
Battle with illness
Miklosko stepped back from cancer treatment in December 2024, three years after receiving his diagnosis. Just days later, he made an appearance at West Ham's London Stadium for a Premier League fixture against Liverpool, where he was given a hero's welcome by fans.
