Kris Jenner's Mother Mary Jo Campbell Dies at 91

Mary Jo Campbell, the mother of Kardashian-Jenner matriarch Kris Jenner, has died at the age of 91. The announcement was made by Jenner, 70, on social media on Thursday. Campbell, also known as MJ Shannon, appeared frequently on the family's reality series, starting with 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' in 2007.

In her post, Kris Jenner wrote: 'Today, we said goodbye to my beautiful Mommy MJ.' She praised her mother for teaching the family that family is everything, how to love unconditionally, and how to find joy in small moments. Campbell had two children: Kris and Karen Houghton, who died of cardiac arrest in March 2024 at age 65.

MJ was the grandmother of Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe Kardashian, as well as Kendall and Kylie Jenner. She appeared across multiple episodes of both 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' and the newer series 'The Kardashians'. Her death came just before her 92nd birthday. The family celebrated her 90th birthday on an episode of 'The Kardashians' on Hulu, featuring a hotel party in San Diego, California.

During that episode, MJ said her greatest accomplishment was her two daughters. Kris Jenner, in tears, called her 'my best friend and I couldn't live without you.' MJ replied that she wasn't going anywhere and would have to wait for the next party.

Over the decades, MJ built her own fanbase with sassy one-liners and sage advice. She often teased her family about their extravagant lifestyles and spoke proudly about beating cancer twice, which earned her admiration from the entire family.

Kim Kardashian paid tribute on social media, describing her grandmother as 'my best friend, my gossip buddy, my forever twin.' She said MJ taught the importance of family and gave her first job at her San Diego retail store, instilling lessons about work ethic, strength, and confidence.
