Two widespread myths continue to circulate about Dzintris Kolāts, the former general director of Latvian Radio, both in his home area of Kuiviži and in certain Riga circles.

Two myths

The first myth claims that Kolāts still holds a leading position at Latvian Radio and continues to run the broadcaster as its chief. The second myth suggests that he still occasionally steps in to help out at Radio from time to time, informally assisting his former colleagues.

According to Kolāts himself, neither claim is true — he is no longer connected to the management of Latvian Radio, nor does he periodically take part in its daily work. However, he notes that he has accumulated rich experience both in the field of radio and in other areas of his life, experience he considers worth discussing openly.

Life between Kuiviži and travel

Kolāts is also known as a passionate traveler, with a life story that includes journeys to distant places, among them Africa. At the same time, his personal life and home remain closely tied to Kuiviži, a small locality in Latvia, where the myths about him continue to persist.

In an upcoming conversation, Kolāts promises to speak openly about his experience in the radio industry, his travels, and everyday life in Kuiviži, aiming to dispel the misconceptions that have built up around him over the years.
