A fashion show named Pallas, part of the Estonian Fashion Festival, has stirred controversy after being held in St. John's Church in Estonia. The event drew nearly two hundred comments on a Facebook post in the group "Meie kirik," with many expressing outrage.
"How can such a godless vanity fair take place in a congregation church, that is, a consecrated space?" one Facebook user asked.
Organizers of the fashion show deny any intent to mock. They claim the church was informed about the concept beforehand. "If art raises questions, various interpretations, or even disagreements, it does not always mean disrespect," said an organizer of the Estonian Fashion Festival.
No further statements from the church have been reported regarding potential follow-up actions.
