Mogo/RSU crush Kyiv Capitals 9:2 in Baltic Hockey League
Defending champions Mogo/RSU delivered a dominant 9:2 home win over Kyiv's Capitals in the Optibet Hockey League, while Riga's Prizma lost to Vilnius Hockey Punks.
In Saturday's Optibet Hockey League (OHL) game, Mogo/RSU secured a decisive 9:2 home victory over Kyiv's Capitals, with period scores of 2:1, 3:1 and 4:0 in the hosts' favor.
Mogo/RSU opened the scoring through Rūdolfs Polcs and Jānis Zemītis, but the visitors pulled one back before the first period ended through Mykhailo Kovalchuk. In the second period, the hosts extended their lead with goals from Ričards Grīnbergs and Kaspars Ziemiņš, while Ilya Korenchuk scored for the Ukrainian side. Late in the second period, Gints Meija restored a three-goal cushion for the home team.
In the third period, Capitals' goaltender was beaten repeatedly, with Polcs, Ziemiņš, Kaspars Daugaviņš and Grīnbergs all finding the net as Mogo/RSU cruised to a commanding win.

Also on Saturday, Riga's Prizma lost 2:4 at home to Vilnius' Hockey Punks. Kristaps Riekstiņš and Kristers Bormanis scored for the home side, while Laisvīds Kudrevičs led the visitors with two points; Ilya Chetvertak, Herkus Marcinkevičius and Mateusz Sikerka also scored for the guests.
Following these results, Mogo/RSU top the standings with seven points from four games. The Liepāja club has six points from three matches, Prizma has four points from five games, and Capitals have three points from three games. Later Saturday, Zemgale/LBTU were set to host the Liepāja team.
Nine teams from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Ukraine are competing in this season's OHL, with the regular season featuring a four-round format. The top six teams will advance to the playoffs, whose winner will be crowned Baltic champion. Last season, Mogo/RSU won the title for the third consecutive year, defeating Zemgale/LBTU in the final series.
