Mogo/RSU beat Zemgale/LBTU to stay top of the OHL
Mogo/RSU won 4-2 against Zemgale/LBTU in the Latvian hockey championship. Rudolfs Polcs scored his seventh goal in six games.

In a Latvian championship hockey game, Mogo/RSU beat Zemgale/LBTU 4-2 (1-1, 2-1, 1-0) at home.
The visitors opened the scoring. In the middle of the first period, Kristaps Rokis tipped in a shot by Lauris Bajarunis on the power play (1-0). Mogo/RSU replied four minutes later: Roberts Kalkis beat an opponent on the right wing and found Rudolfs Polcs in front of the net, who levelled the score (1-1). Polcs has returned to Mogo after four seasons in Slovenia and France and has scored seven goals in six games.
In the second period Zemgale went ahead again, as defenceman Arturs Karasa fired into the near top corner to make it 2-1. Mogo/RSU responded roughly six and a half minutes later, when defenceman Kristaps Jakobsons scored his first goal of the season with a long shot through traffic (2-2).
In the penultimate minute of the second period, Janis Zemitis capitalised on a defender's mistake, skated in on the goalkeeper and made it 3-2. Both teams failed to convert power plays in the third period. Six minutes from the end, Raul Ozollapa doubled the lead, breaking between two defenders on a counterattack and beating the goalkeeper (4-2).
Upcoming games
Before the Continental Cup, Mogo/RSU visit Prizma/RTU on Saturday. Zemgale/LBTU travel to Pinki on Saturday to face Kyiv Capitals.
After eight games, Mogo/RSU lead the standings with 15 points. Kyiv Capitals are second with 12 points, while Zemgale/LBTU are fourth with eight points after five games.
