Mohamed Salah to join Trabzonspor after Liverpool exit

Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah will likely continue his career with Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor after nine seasons at Liverpool. The 34-year-old became a free agent this summer, and the club has officially confirmed that talks have begun.

A move to Istanbul's Beşiktaş, which seemed close earlier this month, fell through. Beşiktaş director Önder Ezen told a press conference that three meetings had taken place and were initially constructive, but the player's representatives later made financial demands that the club found unacceptable. The Istanbul side refused to increase its offer and has closed the case.

Trabzonspor then stepped in. Turkish media report that Salah has agreed to a two-year contract worth approximately €17 million per season. In addition, he would receive 100% of revenue from shirt sales outside Turkey and 25% from shirt sales within the country.

Although Trabzonspor had not yet published an official statement on its website, Salah's name appeared on Turkey's Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), where listed clubs must publish material financial information and player transfers. That entry is seen in Turkey as confirmation that the deal is complete.

Salah left Liverpool by mutual agreement to terminate his contract early. After the World Cup, where Egypt reached the round of 16, he decided to accept Trabzonspor's offer and will play in the Turkish championship for the first time in his career.
