Moldova again registers airspace violation during Russian attack on Ukraine
On Sunday, August 30, an aircraft briefly entered Moldovan airspace from Ukraine's side following Russian air strikes on Ukraine. Romania also issued an alert in Tulcea county the same day after radar detected an aerial target near the Ukrainian border.
On Sunday, August 30, an aircraft violated Moldova's airspace, entering from the Ukrainian side, according to data from the Air Operations Service of Moldova's National Army.
Moldova's Ministry of Defence said the object crossed the border near the town of Dnistrovsk in the Transnistria region, coming from Ukraine's Lyman district in Odesa region. The incident occurred at 15:50. About 10 minutes later, the aircraft returned to Ukraine along the same route.
The ministry stated that the unauthorized overflight of the country's airspace occurred following Russia's air attacks on Ukraine earlier that day. It added that national authorities, together with partners, continue monitoring the airspace to ensure the safety of the population.
Alert in Romania as well
On the same day, August 30, an alert was declared for the northeastern part of Romania's Tulcea county after radar systems of the Ministry of National Defence detected an aerial target near the border with Ukraine.
Earlier, on August 27, Romania's radar surveillance system had detected an aerial target 33 kilometers north of Ukraine's Zmiinyi (Snake) Island.
