On June 29, a powerful explosion shook Monaco when a bag containing explosives detonated in the vestibule of the home of Vadym Yermolaev, a wealthy Ukrainian businessman. Yermolaev (58), his girlfriend, and his 13-year-old son were all injured. The girlfriend, Anna Nasobina (46), suffered the most severe injuries, requiring the amputation of both legs; her condition is critical. Nasobina is the daughter of the former first deputy prosecutor of the Dnipropetrovsk region.

The suspect in the bombing, 39-year-old Ukrainian citizen Anastasia Berezovska, who had disguised herself as a man during the attack, was placed on an international wanted list. Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) reported that Berezovska was found dead—her body with gunshot wounds to the head was buried in a forest in the Kyiv region.

According to the SBU, Berezovska arrived in Ukraine on July 1, two days after the attack. Two suspects met her on a highway in the Kyiv region, and she rode with them for a distance before being killed. Two individuals have been charged with murder, including a current employee of Ukraine's military intelligence service. The intelligence officer confessed to the murder, stating that he committed it with another suspect.

The investigation revealed that after arriving in Ukraine, Berezovska contacted her family and two men—a former law enforcement officer and a current employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense. They are suspected of possible involvement in the Monaco attack, as they repeatedly transferred funds to Berezovska's cryptocurrency and bank accounts. A search of the former law enforcement officer's home uncovered a basement that resembled a torture chamber, though the prosecutor's office said there is no evidence it was used in Berezovska's case.

Vadym Yermolaev is a real estate developer who was ranked 45th on Forbes Ukraine's list of richest Ukrainians in 2021, with a fortune of $220 million. He has significant interests in the wine and alcohol industry in Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014. Since 2023, he has been under Ukrainian sanctions for continuing to pay taxes to the Russian budget after Russia's invasion. In 2019, he acquired Cypriot citizenship, renouncing his Ukrainian citizenship.
