Smartphone maker Motorola has officially announced its new high-end Signature 27, with which the company is attempting, for the first time in the modern smartphone era, to build a full-scale flagship in a conventional, non-folding body. The device starts at $1,599 in the US and goes directly up against Samsung's Galaxy S26 Ultra. The Signature line had not previously been available in the US.

Price and availability

For $1,599, buyers get 512GB of storage and 12GB of RAM. That matches the Galaxy S26 Ultra variant at the same price, although Samsung also sells a cheaper 256GB model at $1,399. US pre-orders begin on November 19, and the phone goes on sale on November 26.

Specifications

The phone runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset. It has a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery and a 6.8-inch tandem OLED display that uses two light-emitting layers and reaches a peak brightness of 12,000 nits. The body is rated IP68/IP69 for dust and water resistance. Charging runs up to 90W wired and up to 50W wireless, though the wireless speed requires Motorola's own charger. The phone has no built-in Qi2 magnets.

The camera system includes a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia L910 sensor with LOFIC technology, a 200-megapixel 3x telephoto camera and a 50-megapixel ultrawide. There is also an Event Vision Sensor, which detects movement at pixel level; Motorola says it helps capture fast-moving subjects more clearly. Audio comes from a speaker architecture designed by Bang & Olufsen.

The Signature 27 will also support GrapheneOS, a privacy-focused operating system, a first for Motorola. The company has promised seven years of OS upgrades.

Other new devices

Motorola also introduced the Moto Watch Fit 27 smartwatch, which it says lasts up to 12 days on a charge, and the Moto Buds 27 earbuds with Bose noise cancellation. Both will reach Europe and the UK within weeks, at £99.99 for the watch and £179.99 for the buds. US pricing and release dates have not been announced.
