Motorola teases new compact foldable Razr

Motorola has posted a teaser video on social media offering a first glimpse of an upcoming Razr model, and it marks a notable departure from the brand's classic design. The Instagram Reel walks through a brief history of Razr phones released over the past 22 years, closing with the silhouette of a new, boxier device.

Unlike the traditional Razr, which opens vertically in a clamshell style, the new model uses a book-style folding structure similar to other foldables already on the market. The teased device appears noticeably thicker and stockier than previous Razr generations.

A trend toward wider screens

Wider aspect ratios are becoming more common among foldable phones this year, with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the newly announced iPhone Duo both adopting broader screen formats. That timing may be part of the reason Motorola chose to reveal its new design now.

The company has not yet shared a name, release date, or detailed specifications for the device, though more information is expected to follow in the near future.

Motorola has been expanding its foldable phone lineup significantly this year. Alongside its three existing clamshell-style Razr models, the company recently released its first full-sized foldable, the Motorola Razr Fold, which was reviewed in May and seen as a strong new competitor to the established foldable lines from Samsung and Google.
