Karolina Muchova (WTA No. 9) advanced to the Wimbledon final on Sunday, July 9, after a hard-fought 6:2, 1:6, 7:6 (10) victory over American Coco Gauff (WTA No. 7). The match was played in 33°C heat and lasted nearly three hours.

In the third set, Muchova saved two break points at 5-4, but Gauff fought back to 5-5, forcing a tiebreak. The Czech stormed to a 4-1 lead in the tiebreak but then struggled with stomach issues. Despite her discomfort, she kept battling. The tiebreak saw multiple lead changes: 6-6, 9-9, 10-10. Muchova eventually won 12-10 after Gauff committed a double fault at 10-11.

Statistically, Muchova lost the total points battle (95-98) but was more efficient in key moments. She converted 2 of 6 break points, while Gauff managed only 2 of 13. Muchova hit 3 aces (0 double faults), Gauff 2 aces and 2 double faults. Winners and unforced errors: Muchova 31-32, Gauff 32-35.

This will be Muchova's second Grand Slam final (her first was at the 2023 French Open). Her previous best at Wimbledon was quarterfinal appearances in 2019 and 2021. For Gauff, Wimbledon's best had been the fourth round (2019, 2021, 2024).

The semifinal was attended by celebrities, including British actresses Cynthia Erivo and Lily James. Later that day, the mixed doubles final featured Latvia's Alona Ostapenko and Marcelo Arevalo.
