Professor Egils Vītols, Renowned Neurologist, Passes Away
Professor Egils Vītols, a leading figure in Latvian neurology and former head of the Neurology Department at Riga Stradiņš University, has died.

Professor Egils Vītols, an eminent neurologist and educator, has passed away. Throughout his career, he made significant contributions to medical science in Latvia, particularly in research on acroparesthesia and neurological syndromes caused by dynamic spinal loads.
From 1994 to 2004, Vītols chaired the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at Riga Stradiņš University. Simultaneously, he led the Neurology and Neurosurgery Clinic at Riga East Clinical University Hospital, where he advanced the care of patients with epilepsy and other neurological conditions.
He was also active in professional organizations, serving as chairman of the Latvian Neurologists' Society and promoting the development of neurology in Latvia for many years.
The farewell ceremony for Professor Egils Vītols will take place on Thursday, July 16, at 12:30 PM at the II Meža kapu chapel.
