Former Latvian Television journalist Jānis Dimants has died

Jānis Dimants, a former journalist for Latvian Television widely associated with the programme Panorāma, has died. He passed away during the night before September 2 at the age of 89. Dimants spent more than four decades working for LTV, first in the news editorial unit and later in the LTV News Service. Even after he retired, he kept following the news programme closely and was described as one of its most loyal audience members.

At one point, when introduced in an LTV broadcast, Dimants was called a happy grandfather loved by all Latvian farmers.
