Sam Neill, one of New Zealand's most prominent actors, has passed away at the age of 78. The actor's family shared the sad news on social media on Monday, stating that his death was sudden and unexpected.
Just two months ago, Neill had revealed that after a five-year battle with a rare and aggressive form of T-cell lymphoma, his cancer had gone into remission. The diagnosis was angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma.
Neill gained worldwide recognition for his portrayal of Dr. Alan Grant in Steven Spielberg's 1993 blockbuster "Jurassic Park". His extensive filmography also includes notable roles in "The Hunt for Red October", "The Piano", "Event Horizon", and the television series "Peaky Blinders".
