Former Saeima deputy and minister Aija Poča passes away
Aija Poča, a former member of the Latvian parliament and State Minister for Revenue, has died at the age of 78.

Aija Poča was born on June 30, 1948, in Riga. She passed away three days after her 78th birthday.
She graduated from the University of Latvia with a degree in economic cybernetics and later completed postgraduate studies at the Economics Institute of the Latvian Academy of Sciences, specializing in economic planning.
Poča served as a deputy in the 5th, 6th, and 7th Saeima (Latvian parliament). In June 1995, she was appointed State Minister for Revenue in the government of Prime Minister Māris Gailis. She represented the party "Latvijas ceļš" (Latvian Way) both in parliament and in government. In 2001, she was elected to the Riga City Council as a member of the same party.
After her political career, Poča worked in both state and private enterprises. She served as head of the project management department at Latvijas dzelzceļš (Latvian Railways) and was a board member of AS "Parex banka".
