Daina Stone, a mathematics teacher who dedicated over 40 years to Riga Teika Secondary School, died on July 12 at the age of 71.

Riga Teika Secondary School has announced the passing of long-time teacher Daina Stone. She died on July 12 at the age of 71.
Stone taught at the school for more than 40 years, serving as a mathematics teacher, class teacher, and deputy principal. The school staff described her as an outstanding educator and person who generously shared her knowledge, warmth, and love.
"It is often said that Teika has its own spirit, its special aura and soul. It is shaped and nurtured by people. One of them was our Daina," the school said in a statement.
The school noted that many generations of students gained lifelong knowledge in Stone's lessons, while her kindness and support will remain in the memories of colleagues and students. "Thank you, dear Daina! May the path of light, gratitude, and love be with you in eternity," the school staff wrote, expressing deepest condolences to her family and loved ones.
The farewell ceremony for Daina Stone will take place on July 16 at 12:00 at 3 Tēraudlietuves Street, Riga, in the Great Hall.
