Guitarist Kaspars Zemītis has experienced a significant family milestone — he has become a grandfather for the first time. The musician shared the news on Facebook and Instagram, posting a photo of himself holding his newborn grandson.

Alongside the photo, Zemītis wrote an emotional message expressing gratitude for the chance to hold his grandson, noting that the family continues into a new generation.

A long-awaited event

It had previously been known that the Zemītis family's elder son, Kārlis Zemītis — a musician in the band "Pirmais kurss" — and his fiancée Elīza were expecting their first child. In an earlier interview with the magazine "Privātā Dzīve," Kaspars Zemītis had said he had been looking forward to becoming a grandfather for a long time, noting the contrast between his own and his son's timelines — he became a father at 21, while his son Kārlis is welcoming his first child at 31.

The musician had also previously expressed a preference for how he wants his grandchild to address him in the future. Zemītis said he would rather be called "vectēvs" (grandfather) than "opītis" (grandpa), saying the latter term did not particularly appeal to him.
