National Theatre Leads ‘Spēlmaņu nakts’ Nominations; Ceremony in November

On June 18, the Latvian Theatre Workers’ Union announced the nominees for the ‘Spēlmaņu nakts’ awards in 17 categories. A jury of nine theatre professionals evaluated 108 new professional theatre productions staged between August 1, 2025 and June 15, 2026.
This year’s awards ceremony will take place on November 23, marking the 33rd edition of the event. The full list of nominees across categories has been released separately.
According to the Union, the National Theatre received the highest number of nominations among all theatres. The exact count has not been disclosed, but the achievement underscores the theatre’s prominent role in the past season.
