Over 40 years of history
The 'Spirit of Peace' collection was launched more than four decades ago. Its purpose is to commemorate the bombing of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of World War II. Since then, Japanese artists have created new posters annually that carry an anti-war message and speak out against the use of nuclear weapons.
Third year in Riga
The National Library is displaying this poster collection for the third consecutive year, giving Latvian visitors a chance to see artists' perspectives on the consequences of war and the importance of peace. The newest work continues the tradition of previous years, serving as a reminder of the devastation caused by nuclear weapons and calling for peaceful coexistence in the world.
