The National Theatre in Riga is continuing its series of concert performances dedicated to outstanding music figures connected to the venue's history. As part of its 75th anniversary celebrations, the theatre is now turning its attention to composer Mārtiņš Brauns.

Brauns holds a special place in the theatre's history: from 1975 to 1982 he served as head of its musical department, giving him a long-standing and close relationship with the institution's creative work.

The tribute concert has been titled «Tikšanās blūzs» ("Meeting Blues"). Dita Lūriņa has been brought on as director of the concert staging, and the premiere is scheduled for September 24 of this year.

The announcement was made by representatives of the theatre, who noted that the tribute forms part of a broader initiative to honor musicians and composers historically tied to the National Theatre's stage. The theatre has previously dedicated similar concert performances to other notable music figures, and the Brauns tribute marks the latest installment in that series, coinciding with the theatre's anniversary year.
