Nairobi beats London in bid to host 2029 World Athletics Championships
World Athletics has chosen Nairobi, Kenya to host the 2029 World Athletics Championships, passing over London's bid, while Munich was confirmed as host for 2031.

World Athletics has announced that Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, will host the 2029 World Athletics Championships, beating out a rival bid from London.
London had proposed London Stadium as its venue — the ground used by Championship club West Ham United. The stadium also hosted the 2012 Olympic Games, the annual London Diamond League meeting, and was the site of the city's last World Championships in 2017.
Alongside London, Rome also lost out in the bidding process for the 2029 event. Separately, World Athletics confirmed that Munich, Germany, has been selected to host the 2031 World Championships.
Further details on the decision are expected to follow.
