Next Elder Scrolls game will be called Sentinel
Game studio Bethesda has officially confirmed that the sixth entry in its Elder Scrolls role-playing series is titled The Elder Scrolls VI Sentinel. The studio is not sharing further details for now.
Bethesda, the US video game studio behind the Elder Scrolls series, has officially confirmed that its upcoming game will be called The Elder Scrolls VI Sentinel. It is the first official title for the sixth main entry in the series, whose previous instalment, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, was released 15 years ago.
The name was confirmed in a video of less than ten minutes marking 40 years of Bethesda game studios. Studio chief Todd Howard made the announcement and described the moment as the "perfect time" to name the game.
A long wait
Bethesda first officially announced the existence of the sixth game more than eight years ago. Since then, very few concrete details have emerged, while there has been some debate about whether the game will be exclusive to particular platforms. The studio is not revealing anything more about the project today.
Set in Hammerfell
According to The Verge reporter Tom Warren, he wrote in his Notepad newsletter last week that Bethesda planned to reveal the name in November, a month that marks 15 years since Skyrim's release.
The game will take place in Hammerfell, a province in the Elder Scrolls universe that has previously appeared in The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard and The Elder Scrolls Online. According to the source, Sentinel will be the first game about the history of the Elder Scrolls, helping to uncover the secrets of these mysterious ancient artifacts.
