Heavy Rain and Gusty Winds Expected in Latvia Next Week

The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre forecasts that on the night of Sunday, July 19, many areas will experience rain, locally with thunderstorms and heavy downpours. During the day, clouds will gradually clear and precipitation will be limited to isolated locations. Overnight temperatures will drop to +15..+19°C, while daytime highs will reach +19..+24°C. A light to moderate southerly wind will prevail. The UV index on Sunday will be moderate.
At the beginning of the following week, a new cyclone will approach Latvia, bringing abundant rainfall. Monday and Tuesday will see heavy and prolonged rain in places, along with strengthening winds. Gusts could reach 15-18 meters per second. Meteorologists warn that weather conditions will deteriorate rapidly at the start of next week.
In Riga, rain and possible thunderstorms are expected on Sunday night. During the day, the sky will be cloudy but with occasional sunshine, and no significant precipitation is forecast. A light to moderate southwesterly and southerly wind will blow, with temperatures rising to +22..+24°C.
