Next week expected sharp cold snap in Latvia
The average air temperature in Latvia next week will be two to three degrees below normal, according to the latest data from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts.

Sharp drop in temperature
After a warm week with average temperatures about two degrees above the 1991–2020 norm, Latvia is bracing for a significant cooling period next week. According to the latest forecasts from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, the average temperature next week will be two to three degrees below the norm. However, by the end of the month temperatures are likely to rise again.
Upcoming days
In the remaining days of this week, air temperatures will reach +23..+28°C, slightly cooler in some coastal areas. On Saturday, rain and local thunderstorms are expected in many parts of western and central Latvia. Sunday will see temperatures up to +19..+24°C with occasional light rain.
Next week outlook
Next week, some days may see temperatures no higher than +14..+19°C, with occasional rain. Precipitation amounts are forecast to be near normal.
Wind and sea temperature
This weekend, winds will strengthen from the southeast, later shifting to the southwest. This will likely cool the sea water along the coast, as prolonged winds from the shore push away the warm surface layer, allowing cold water from deeper depths to rise.
