After a relatively warm start to November, the weather in Latvia will turn noticeably cooler next week, with night temperatures dropping below zero and snow possible in the second half of the week. The forecast matters especially for drivers, as roads may become icy.
Weekend and Monday
This weekend and on Monday the weather will remain mostly cloudy, with some sunny spells and possibly light rain. Daytime temperatures will reach +4 to +10 degrees, while nights will mostly see 0 to +6 degrees, up to +9 on the coast. The exception is the night to Saturday, when the air in eastern Latvia will cool to -1...-4 degrees.
Coldest day: Tuesday
More pronounced cold is expected on Tuesday, 10 November, as skies clear and the wind turns to the south. In the morning, temperatures across most of the country will fall to 0...-4 degrees, and during the day will only reach +2...+6 degrees. Light frost is also forecast for the night to Wednesday.
Precipitation later in the week
Starting from Lāčplēsis Day on 11 November, the chance of precipitation will increase. Both rain and snow are possible during the week.
Data from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts indicate that next week in Latvia could be one to two degrees cooler than usual for November, while precipitation will most likely be below the norm. In the following weeks, temperature and precipitation could return to normal levels or exceed them.
