Mostly dry and sunny weather expected in Latvia next week
Meteorologists forecast that an anticyclone will bring mostly dry, sunny weather to Latvia next week, while the second half of the week will see a shift to rain and stronger winds.
Meteorologists say Latvia's weather next week will be shaped by an anticyclone, bringing mostly dry conditions with frequent sunshine. However, by the latter part of this week, a cyclone will move in, bringing periodic rain — heavy in some areas — along with variable, occasionally gusty winds.
Nighttime temperatures are expected to range from +5 to +12 degrees Celsius, with coastal areas potentially reaching up to +14 degrees. Afternoon temperatures will stay within +10 to +17 degrees.
Longer-term outlook
Forecasters believe that next week, and possibly into the second week of October, significant precipitation is unlikely, with only occasional cloud cover. A slow easterly and southerly wind is expected to dominate during this period.
Temperature forecasts remain somewhat uncertain and vary by region — on cooler nights, a slight frost cannot be ruled out in eastern Latvia, while on warmer afternoons, temperatures in some areas, most likely in Kurzeme, could exceed +20 degrees.
According to data from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, next week in Latvia is expected to be about two to three degrees warmer than usual. October as a whole is currently forecast to be somewhat warmer and drier than typical for the month.
