Lielupe bridge on A9 to close nightly for repair works
From September 10 to 28, the Lielupe bridge on the A9 highway will be closed to traffic every night for structural reinforcement works, with drivers directed to a detour route. The information comes from Jelgava municipal utility "Pilsētsaimniecība".
Jelgava's municipal utility "Pilsētsaimniecība" has announced upcoming repair works on the A9 state main road (Riga/Skulte–Liepāja section), which will involve reinforcing the structural elements of the Lielupe bridge.
Because of the works, the bridge will be fully closed to traffic every night from September 10 through September 28, between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Detour route
To keep traffic flowing through Jelgava during the closures, a detour has been set within the city limits. The route runs via regional road P99, then Kalnciema Road, Loka thoroughfare, the A8 state main road, Aizsargu Street, Miera Street, Lietuvas Highway, Rūpniecības Street, Atmodas Street, Dobeles Highway, and finally regional road P98.
Drivers should expect a longer route through Jelgava on the affected nights while reinforcement work continues on the bridge.
