Narva is set for major changes in the coming years. The city is currently implementing or preparing to launch around 30 municipal projects with a combined cost of almost 70 million euros.

At the end of July, it was announced that EU funding had been allocated for the second stage of Stockholm Square’s improvement. Work is due to begin in 2027. The project budget exceeds five million euros, with 70% covered by European Union funds. The square will extend to Viru Street, where a one-storey building facade will be visible. According to project service head Žaklīna Holtere, it is hoped the building will house a cafe or other commercial premises.

In early August, a new phase of a Narva Development and Economy Department project got underway: specialists began designing the renovation of a historic building in the port, which currently houses the rowing base of the sports school Energia. The project aims to preserve the building’s architectural value and adapt it to modern needs. The city received half a million euros in state funding for the work, which will primarily go toward improving energy efficiency and the indoor climate.

Currently, 20 municipal projects are being implemented, with ten more in preparation. According to Anne Veevo, director of the Narva Development and Economy Department, the total budget for investment projects is around 70 million euros, of which some 41 million comes from EU funds. Plans include at least another 33 million euros in projects, which could bring the total project budget to 100 million, with at least 60–65% coming from EU funds.

One of the city’s priority projects is a municipal rental apartment building for specialists at Vestervalli 17. The aim is to attract doctors, teachers and other qualified professionals.
