Narva-Jõesuu to buy back historic spa hall for 375,000 euros
The Narva-Jõesuu municipality has decided to buy back the historic spa hall (kursaal) building from Navesco for 375,000 euros. Initial works will cost up to 20,000 euros, while full restoration with a concert hall extension could reach around 10 million euros.
Council members in Narva-Jõesuu unanimously approved a project to return the historic spa hall building to city ownership. The municipality intends to buy the building from the company Navesco for 375,000 euros.
First steps after the purchase
According to Mayor Maksim Iljin, conservation works on the building are planned shortly after its purchase. The city has already allocated up to 20,000 euros for this in this year's supplementary budget. The funds will go toward conserving the building, ensuring security around the site, and tidying up the surrounding park.
Further plans and costs
The city also plans to set aside roughly 300,000 euros in its budget for preliminary work, including detailed planning and design. The construction costs could reach around 10 million euros, factoring in not only the restoration of the spa hall but also an attached concert hall — something the city genuinely lacks, especially outside the tourist season when large events can only be held indoors.
Iljin said the city hopes new support measures will become available in 2028, which could help secure funding for the project. He noted the project is planned to be carried out over five years, starting this autumn.
