New heating pipeline planned in Narva to reduce heating costs
The city governments of Narva and Narva-Jõesuu have agreed on design requirements for a heat pipeline from the Auvere power plant to the Baltic station, aiming to channel excess heat for city heating and ease price hikes.
The Narva city government, together with the Narva-Jõesuu municipal government, has coordinated the design requirements for a heating pipeline from the Estonian power plant in Auvere to the Baltic station. The idea for the pipeline emerged after a significant increase in heating costs for Narva residents.
Since May, the price of heat in Narva has risen to 137 euros per megawatt-hour. The pipeline will allow excess heat to be transferred and directed to the city's heating system, potentially lowering costs.
Construction of the pipeline will take place alongside a road, and the design conditions also incorporate environmental requirements. Narva's chief architect, Peeter Tabu, explained that these aspects have been addressed, discussed with owners of roads, networks, and land plots, and were considered in the environmental impact assessment and design conditions.
