Narva Trans lose 3-1 at Kuressaare and stay bottom of Estonian league
Narva Trans were defeated 3-1 away to Kuressaare in the 26th round of Estonia’s football championship on 5 September, leaving the side last in the standings.
Saturday, 5 September, marked the start of the 26th round of the Estonian football championship. A key match of this round took place on the island of Saaremaa, bringing together two clubs that are fighting to stay in the top flight. Kuressaare hosted Narva Trans and took a very important step by winning 3:1.
Both goals in the first half came in the closing stage. Taavi Jurissoo put Kuressaare ahead with a free-kick, and Sander Siinlaid doubled the advantage after a corner delivery. Midway through the second half, Stanislav Agapchev pulled one goal back for Narva Trans. However, Kuressaare forward Evgeny Demidov soon restored the hosts’ two-goal cushion and effectively ended the contest.
This success strengthens Kuressaare’s position in the relegation battle, while Narva’s task of moving off the bottom has become even harder. Narva Trans remain last in the league table. Kuressaare rose to eighth place, and the gap between the clubs is now eleven points.
