Refunds for canceled Pitbull concert to begin next week

On August 3, event organizers announced that refunds for tickets to the canceled concert by American rapper Pitbull will be paid out starting next week. In an interview with TV3's “900 sekundes”, event representative Ģirts Majors said the process will be automatic, so ticket holders will not need to take any extra steps.

Those who have not decided yet can still exchange their tickets for the upcoming performance by electronic music artist Calvin Harris, scheduled for Thursday. According to Majors, several thousand ticket holders have already chosen this option, while the rest will receive their money back as quickly as possible.

Majors said there is a clear business plan to resolve the situation and no concerns about organizing new concerts. He added that the first concerts of next year are expected to be announced in September.

The cancellation was announced on the evening of July 28, ahead of the concert that was due to take place on July 29 at the Mežaparks Great Bandstand. The reason given was concerns over the safety of the stage structures. Organizers said many questions regarding responsibility and details remain unanswered, and various expert inspections are to be carried out.

Around 40,000 tickets had been sold for the concert.
