Fatal Accident in Rēzekne District: Car Plunges into Lake Rāzna
A driver died after his car veered off the road and entered Lake Rāzna in Rēzekne municipality early Sunday. Police are investigating the incident.

In the early hours of Sunday, at 1:38 AM, a tragic traffic accident occurred on road P56 (Malta-Kaunata) in Mākoņkalns parish, Rēzekne municipality. A man driving a Hyundai Santa Fe lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway, and drove into Lake Rāzna. The driver died at the scene.
The State Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the accident. Further details about the deceased are not being disclosed at this time.
This incident is one of 109 traffic accidents recorded in Latvia over the past 24 hours. In total, 26 people were injured and one died in these accidents. The highest number of crashes occurred in Riga and its surroundings – 60, with 14 injuries. In Latgale, 20 accidents resulted in five injuries; in Vidzeme, 13 accidents with three injuries; in Kurzeme, 11 accidents with four injuries; and in Zemgale, five accidents with no injuries. Among the injured were two pedestrians, two cyclists, and two e-scooter riders.
