Kaspars Pudāns, commander of Latvia's National Armed Forces (NBS), told the LETA news agency that Latvia does not currently face any direct military threat.

At the same time, Pudāns stressed that the NBS is taking into account the possibility that Russia could resort to hybrid-type provocations against Latvia. This means the armed forces are factoring into their planning and operations scenarios that do not involve direct military confrontation but rather indirect actions that are harder to identify and attribute.

The commander's statement indicates that Latvia's security institutions continue to monitor the situation in the region and are preparing for potential risks, even though no direct military threat has currently been identified.
