Latvian Army: Reports of Drone Crash in Alūksne Municipality Not Confirmed
Latvia's National Armed Forces checked reports of a possible foreign drone crashing and exploding in Alūksne municipality, but the incident was not confirmed. The public is urged to rely on official sources.

Latvia's National Armed Forces (NBS) have said that reports of a possible foreign drone crashing and exploding in Alūksne municipality, in the northeast of the country, have not been confirmed. The information circulated after a report and a video were received on Sunday, and it concerns airspace security near the border.
What the military did
The NBS said on social media that it had examined the information and video received on Sunday. Radar system data was analysed, and the area where the unidentified object might have come down was surveyed. These steps did not confirm the incident.
The armed forces urged residents to assess information responsibly and follow official sources.
Local authority's account
Dzintars Adlers, chairman of the Alūksne municipal council, said he received reports on Monday morning about a noise heard on Sunday in the border area of Liepna parish. Specialists went on Monday to inspect the territory, but the council head had not yet received information on what they found.
Earlier cases
This year, residents of Latgale and Vidzeme have repeatedly received cell broadcast alerts about a possible threat to airspace. Some drones have also fallen and exploded in Latvia. These incidents were most likely linked to drones used in the Russia–Ukraine war approaching or entering Latvian airspace.
